Okay. Is it just my inexperience? Perhaps they charge by the number of eyes?

All in 20 oz. cups -
Hosta Farm, $6.00 or $7.00 plants, the two on the left. Bonus from Hallson's really nice - four eyes (I think) - middle plant. Plants ordered from Hallson's, the two on the right - $16.50 plant on far right.

What do you think?

Chelle, you can contact Hallson's.

They are very good about refunding if you aren't happy.

I think I had the same thing happen a couple of years ago with a Hosta order from them. I called and got a refund on one of them.

But I do like the size they send of Lily bulbs and Daylilies. Larger than average for both.

Have not ordered from them this year, though.

I'm sure they'll be fine, I'm just thrown by my perception of the comparison. *Blush*

Thanks, Janice. If they don't do well, I'll contact them.

I'm not that familiar with ordering hostas, but I do feel that my $16.50 plant (from Hallson's), in particular, was tiny. The roots looked good, and I'm sure it's healthy, but Blinking small.

I ordered from Hallson's twice last year and the plants were big! I am anxious to see the plants from Hosta Farm, how they compare. Green Grin!

Oh no. That is what I get for looking. I found bulbs I just HAD to have at American Meadows. Well, I have never bought bulbs there although I have bought seed and plants there before. Darn Shopping cart refuses to let me check out, telling me my e-mail address is not valid. It works just fine but appartently not for them, ha-ha. So I will just have to call on Monday to order. Hilarious!

I have already been ordering bulbs like a crazy lady here. Just now I placed my third order for bulbs (first Colorblends, 2nd Brent&Beckies) this time from American Meadows. I liked things there so I just had to have them! So I ordered-

50 Wild Crocus Bulbs Minimus
50 Wild Crocus Bulbs Fuscotinctus
20 Dutch Iris Bulbs Bronze Queen
15 Double Daffodil Bulbs Poet's
20 Triumph Tulip Bulbs Giant John
24 Triumph Tulip Bulbs Dutch Princess Mix
FREE BONUS - Daffodil Bulbs Martinette (Bag of 8)

They are having a 50% off sale which made these a good buy. At full price I doubt I would have ordered even though I want them. So these ship in October. I have spots picked out for everything.

I really am on a roll. I just ordered from Brecks. Well, a small order of bulbs but still. All tulips this time. 24 Improved Rembrandt Tulip mix and the one I just flipped over 60 Firespray Tulip Mixture. Now I just noticed the Firespray tulips there compleatly by chance as I was looking at the Rembrandt mix and wanted to see what else there is. I had never heard of Firespray tulips. Then I did web searches and found out that it might be possible to find red firespray elsewhere but the mix of red, yellow and orange was only available here at Brecks. It is a shorter type of bunch flowering tulips and just lovely. Actually latin name of Praestans Fusilier. I have never had any type of bunch flowering tulips before. Oh and I also found out these came back for people and you shouldn't need to replant. They are going in two garden spots, 24 in one section and 36 in another. Then the 24 Rembrandt mix still somewhere else. So add another 84 tulips to my ongoing order total. Hilarious! Rolling my eyes.

The Firespray tulips are right up my alley too, Rita. Nice choice!

I want ones that just keep on coming back year after year. (If something doesn't eat them, of course!)

It is hard to find tulips that keep on coming back each year. I am a sucker for Triumph tulips but they never come back here. Figgured I would try something different. Smiling

I have good luck with Greigii and Kaufmanniana. Of course they don't have that lush look of the others, but they do come back a few years longer, especially up North, when I lived in Massachusetts.

There are some Greigii tulips that I am interested in plus one of the tulips I ordered from Brent&Beckies, MOTHERS LOVE is a Greigii tulip. Don't know anything about the Kaufmanniana tulips really. I will have to do some research on them to learn more.
