Last fall I only planted under 300 bulbs. 200 daffs and the rest tulips. The year before I planted about 600 tulips, 750 dutch iris and about 400 daffs. And I thought that was a lot. I felt like I would never get done with the planting. But I really am so pleased with the spring blooms on the bulbs that for this fall, I am going to go plum crazy. This Colorblends order is only the first of my bulb orders I am going to do this year.

Honestly I just love, love, love tulips. I would have them everywhere except that they show off that first spring and then decline. But I also really love daffs and like to plant plenty of them also.

That sure is a lot (to me). Blinking I'm glad you have the energy to do all that, because I sure don't. Thumbs up

If I waited till fall to order I never would. The secret is to order early. Then in the fall the bulbs arrive in time for planting and then I am forced to deal with it. I really hate the fall planting but I sure do love the spring blooms.

Also for us, the deer love them so. I have a few tulip violaca planted next to our front porch to keep them safe. Very early however so they are already going by.

I have known about Colorblends for about two years now and am actually surprised that I have not ordered from them before this but this is my first time. Honestly you get on their website and if you love tulips like I do it is just about impossible NOT to order. They do all these color combos that are just so striking that it makes me drool looking at the pictures.

Still, all the triumph tulips I had here last spring never came back at all. The early tulips came back pretty good, not as much as the first year but still. And the darwins came back pretty good also but again, not as strong as that first time.

I have a long list of more tulips that I intend to order at Scheepers so my tulip buying is not done for the year.

I love tulips and they do not come back in our area, so I rarely ever plant any. But I do enjoy them vicariously--post lots and lots of pictures, y'all! Hilarious!

Yeah, I know (looking down and scuffing foot). I had some lily-flowered burgundy, Akebono, and Ivory Floradale last year. Some Angeliques a few years ago. All did well for that one year and I was happy with them. But it is more work than I am willing to invest in something that doesn't come back. One of those weird factlets--I live less than five miles from the Dallas Arboretum. In fact, my house is almost on the road directly to the place...and I've never been there. Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious! Every spring, they have a program called Dallas Blooms with THOUsands of tulips. Talk about work!

I followed that link. All I can say is WOW! I love tulips and if that display was a few miles from me I would be camped out there each spring during the display. Hilarious! Whistling

Sorry that you can't enjoy tulips in your own yard. I really do love tulips. Funny but AKEBONO is on my list of tulips I intend to order at Scheepers. In fact I was just making lists of what and how much and were it all should be planted looking at Scheepers a few minutes ago. I have to look lots and lots of times as it takes me weeks to decide on what I am getting. Part of that is deciding where it goes. No bulbs are just ordered with the hope of finding a spot. Spots are picked out and tulips (and daffs) are picked out for them. You guys think that Colorblends order was a lot, just wait until I do my Scheepers order.

It actually will be two orders as things in larger numbers are better off ordered at Van Engelen since those prices are wholesale. But if you want 10 or 20 of something it has to be ordered at Scheepers itself as Van Engelen does not sell that low a quantily.
