Laelia purpurata 'Delicata' looks like what I think of as the ideal orchid. I like the Encyclia ionocentra too!

Here's Otr. Krull-Smith 'Riverbend' AM/AOS almost fully opened. I think it may be sending up 2 more sheaths.

Sorry I have not been around much...been really busy at work. I was in the field for 2 weeks and in 3 weeks I head to Calgary then 3 days after I get back I head out in the filed for the whole month of August! I am missing the whole summer. I hope this trend doesn't repeat itself next year...this is crazy. Guess I'll see you in September when my life becomes somewhat more normal....oh my poor orchids!

Snapped these at work today. Vanda Sue Fowler

Sorry I haven't posted lately but mom is back in the hospital and not doing well. I meet with Hospice on Sunday. It looks like we're near the end.

Oh Jim, I'm so sorry to hear that. She is a lucky woman to have such a good son. I hope her passing will be peaceful. My thoughts are with you and your family.

The last couple of days I was watching the progress of a beautiful single bud on my Blc Hawaiian Green Valley x Rhyncholaelia digbyana 'Laura'. It was open today!
Unfortunately the bloom was so heavy, it snapped/bent on its own. I cut it off and placed it into a small vase.
The flower is of good size and substance but doesn't have the lovely scent of the digbyana.

Dendrobium batanense is happily blooming in the cage ceiling. The flowers are tiny!
I had trouble finding a decent background....
