A water garden should have about 8 hours of direct sunshine for the plants to remain healthy and perform well. As for pruning, since forsytia blooms in the winter months you'll want to wait until after it has finished blooming before you prune, which will be in the springtime. Mock Orange and Barberry should also be pruned in the early spring. Enjoy your garden!
