Japanese beetles can be hand picked and dropped into a bucket of soapy water or can be battled with a neem based spray that also repels them, or can be killed with an insecticide containing carbaryl. Be sure to read and follow all of the label instructions carefully.

Corn is generally planted in spring when the soil temperature has reached at least 50 degrees and the weather has warmed and planting continues on into early summer. Depending on the variety it can take between about 60 to over a 100 days from planting until harvest, and corn grows well only when temperatures are above about 50 degrees or so.
