The most common causes for non-blooming in weigela are lack of sufficient sunshine, pruning at the wrong time and plant immaturity. If your shrub is not getting full sunshine, you may need to move it to a sunnier spot. Weigela produces flowers on new shoots which develop on old wood. If your plant dies down to ground level each winter, it may never flower for you. Or, if you prune in early spring, you could be pruning off potential blooms. Wait until after the flowers are spent before pruning your shrub. Best wishes with your weigela!
