| Gracie, I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up! Those seeds have a thick seed coat that is impervious to water and thus sprouts VERY slowly. You need to nick or cut the seed coat. Some gardeners hold the seed with pliers and then rub it on sandpaper to wear away the coat in one spot. Then plant the seed 1 inch deep in soil or potting mix and keep it slightly moist.
