Pigmy date palms thrive in hot locations but they need lots of water. Browning leaf tips are an indication that your plant is not getting enough water and/or salts have built up in the soil. Water deeply once or twice a week to keep the soil moist. You can leach the salts out of the soil by flooding the soil 2-3 times to help rinse it clean. The yellow spots are probably from insects. Thrips, spider mites and scales are common on these plants. Hosing the foliage off with water every few weeks will discourage these pests from making a home on the leaves.

Best wishes with your palm!
