I just moved into a house and the previous owner kind of let the lawn go. I was wondering, what should I do for the weeds?

There are several weed killer products on the market, or you could use a weed and feed. After the weeds are dead and you've fertilized your lawn, you can rake out the dead areas and reseed this later this spring. If you put your lawn on a regular maintenance schedule you'll have fewer weeds. Start by watering deeply once or twice a week, depending upon weather, and feeding in April, June, September and late November, using a fertilizer with a 3-1-2 ratio of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium. Be sure to mow as often as necessary to keep the turf at about 2 inches in length. By the end of the summer you should have a lush, thick lawn. Enjoy!
