cutting off yellow leaves of hosta - Knowledgebase Question

HD told me the hosta goes dormant. Do I cut off the dried yellow leaves of the hosta before I move near wall and do I contine to water....thanks much! I do not want to kill it

Once the leaves have died you can safely cut them off the plant. Wait until they turn brown before cutting them off. This will ensure the plant is dormant and then you can move it to a protected spot (against a wall). Water only enough to keep the soil from completely drying out. It won't need constant care this winter but you should check periodically to make sure the soil is slightly damp. Hope this answers all your questions!
