last week I put down 15,000 sqft of Vigoro weed and feed problem is I only have 5,000ft of grass. Now it's all dead I have since dethatched and mowed the entire yard back to almost all dirt. I have been watering about two inches a day in hope of flushing all of the herbicide away. How long before I should be able to get new grass to germinate?

Overapplication of weed and feed (or using it on a grass type that's especially sensitive to the active ingredients) or even applying it when the weather is too hot can certainly kill your grass. Flooding is a good first step. If you leach the product out, you should be able to reseed in 3-4 weeks. Depending upon the brand you used, there might be some residual pre emergent that can keep grass seeds from germinating. Try overseeding a small area and see how well the grass grows. If it pops up within a week, you can safely overseed your entire lawn. If the new grass doesn't grow well or germinate right away, wait another 10 days and try it again. Best wishes with your lawn.
