Small, slowly offsetting Haworthia from the Breede River Valley in South Africa near the cape. Leaves may be about 2-5 inches long and bear windows with lines on the upper surface. H. tessellata was formerly a subspecies of venosa, and plants in cultivation labeled H. venosa may actually be tessellata. H. venosa has a much more restricted range in habitat. Leaves in habitat tend to have a different posture (erect, not flat or recurved) and color (brown or yellow, not green) compared to those of cultivated plants.
