Hi Everyone! New Bees and Veterans...
How did you do tonight? Looks like the actual trading went off without a hitch.

Get what you want? What are you excited about? What did you miss?

Share, share, share, how did it go for you?

I myself was a little late to the party, I didn't have anything super critical on my list and found some fun stuff. Most excited about
the double salmon begonia and the pregnant onion seeds. Hurray!

I got all six of my five stars...*fist pump*

The favorite so far has been Za'atar, or as garden.org apparently calls it, "Bible Hyssop." (Bible Oregano is more like it, lol.) I've grown this before and it's a favorite herb, just somewhat difficult to keep going here in Oregon as it really hates damp and cold winters. This is the first time I've seen a named cultivar of it.

I'm excited about what I got fo far, especially the Arum italicum.

I'm not so excited about missing the Bloodroot, nor about only 'selling' 2 items.

I am excited about the basils, blue throatwort, and agastache I got!

I too sold only two items tonight, but in this swap, flowers usually dominate the first day, and veggies go later. Much of my list is veggies. I'm here for the fun and hoping to give much more than I receive and rehome a lot of seeds while they are still viable.

I'm not sure what has happened. I am 3 hours late on choosing my seeds due to a b'day party, but now I have no (0) tickets. I had already added at least 70 packets of seeds to swap. Has anybody else had a problem? How do I fix this?

Renee, I'm sorry you're having problems. Maybe try posting on the Trading problems thread.

I got several fun and unusual items that I'm excited to try! Hurray!

I'm miffed at myself for a brain/hand miscommunication that made me miss the adorable little Pelargonium endlicherianum. However, I'm very happy to see that it went to a wonderful grower who will probably succeed with it better than me. Green Grin!

I think the trend of flowers going first may be changing. Of the 6 packs that I sold, 4 were edibles and only 2 flowers. I looked through the dibs and saw that a lot of herbs and veggies were sold tonight.

I was also very surprised that my Belize Sage didn't get dibbed. In the past, the less-common Salvia species were usually snagged quickly. Due to illness, I didn't have many Salvias to offer this year anyway. Shrug!

Belize Sage feels more loved now, Patricia. Lovey dubby Hilarious!

Thea, there are around a thousand Salvia species that are native to all sorts of environments, from desert to cloud forest. Which species did you try to grow?

Is anyone offering seeds of something that would make a nice, smallish houseplant? Preferably, it would have nice flowers.

Thanks for ideas! Smiling

Edit: It doesn't have to be a traditional houseplant. It could also be a small annual that would bloom quickly from seed and bloom under lights or in a window sill.

Snagged two of my top four picks and see right here where one of my other top picks went. Smiling I guess I did ok selling 5 items. There's several salvias at the top of my list. I think I had too many 5 stars because I got lost in my mad rush and missed all of them. Hoping for another chance tonight. Hilarious!

A couple ideas:
  • Blue Woodruff Asperula orientalis - I haven't tried doing this.
  • Carpathian Bellflower Campanula carpatica - Some of these were blooming in their pots before I got them planted out last year and the year before.
  • Delphinium tatsiense - These bloomed under lights before spring came one year.
  • Dianthus plumarius - Bloomed the first year. The 'Sweetness' selection @wildflowers shared with me is quite dwarf.
  • Lomelosia japonica - Maybe?
  • Gazania linearis - Another maybe? Long blooming season outdoors.
  • Delosperma cooperi - Might try to move in with your other houseplants, though.
  • Lepechinia hastata - Not small, but I brought a large pot of them in this winter to finish blooming indoors.
  • Verbascum phoeniceum - Hmmm. Maybe?

Some of these are pretty far out there Hilarious!

I have a couple dibs that are burning a hole in my pocket -- and all this talk of salvias nodding

I got my five top picks! yay!!! Hear Ye, HEAR YE!!! Anyone from IOWA or MASSACHUSETTS???? I was doing my background research on seeds because I want native plants for Georgia and discovered that you have an opportunity to plant a native that is either threatened or endangered in your state. It is an obligate water plant, so marsh conditions or on the edge of a pond. But maybe you know someone who has a pond? Winged Monkey Flower, as a bonus, is also pretty. If you want to look it up at the Johnson website it is Sharp-winged Monkey Flower there.

I "sold" a bit, so was caught by surprise at having extra tickets to spend. I acquired a few nice things, and have motley taste, so my first four were: Purple Lady bok choy (nice for edible landscaping), teasel (in remembrance of the beautiful UK gardens I visited, where herbs are king), callicarpa white (I have purple, it grows well in Central Florida, and I am looking for select shrubs), and honeydew melon (yum.). I had no problems with trading, and everyone (Lisa especially) has been very kind about answering my endless questions.
