When this plant's seed capsules are picked, they will make a popping noise when the capsule dries out enough, and it cracks open with enough force to fling the seeds inside a fair distance.

Yes, explosive dehiscence. There are some other plants that do this too. A very interesting technique to spread seeds far away from the mama plant.

Yes, (as least some) Violets do it too, but I don't bring those inside, then jump when they pop open a day or so later...

Ruellia seeds have made me jump too! I had one for a few yrs in OH and it lived in my kitchen over winter.
My fav for this is Impatiens. I don't think they make any noise though.
