Empetrum eamesii is listed in the database as a synonym of E. nigrum; CoL says it's not a synonym:

Also, it was thought to be extinct in Vermont, but was recently rediscovered on Mt. Mansfield. Hopefully, it can be preserved.

Edited to reflect that it was only thought to be extinct in Vermont, not extinct world-wide. There are still very few populations, and they all seem to be in eastern Canada, aside from the plants found in Vermont.
