Hello!
Earlier this winter I got some delphinium seeds and when I planted them, this is what grew. None of these seedlings look at all like delphiniums and it's been a few months. Can someone identify these seedlings for me?

I'd say solanum family...

Delphinium seeds are little round dark things, solanum are kind of flat... usually light coloured.

Do you remember what the seeds looked like?

They gave me a Solanum vibe too, but I wasn't sure enough to post a guess. All but that larger one on the left. And also compared it to my lamb's quarters... decided against that theory.

Where did the seeds come from?

They look like Datura stramonium/Jimson Weed seedlings. Do you remember what the seeds look like?

These are the seeds I planted. One of you guys sent them to me when I asked about Delphinium varieties that would fit in my garden.

They could very well be D. stramonium seeds.

I bet that's what they are! I looked up jimsonweed seedlings and they looked exactly like mine. Great job and thank you all very much! Should I pitch them or are they good plants?

Some people really value datura flowers.
Other people talk smack about them.

Personally, I'd be inclined to grow out at least a couple to see if they are attractive to you.

I think they're beautiful myself and I'd keep them. They're only annuals here and I haven't been able to get seeds to grow since then, but they should self-seed if in the ground. They are poisonous though, if you have kids or pets that insist on putting everything in their mouths, that's the only time I'd remove them.

some here grow 'plain' white datura but people have given me the double purple and white, and the yellow, both gorgeous. At least try them.
Plant it and they will come.
