I keep getting a weird pop up when I am looking at this site on my iPad..It's a "quiz, survey " that will give me a reward for taking the survey. Somehow they have my city info.
Here's the website info.anyone else see this and any ideas?

Did you have an ad blocker on Safari?

Turn off all ads for this site. It's the only way I was able to make it stop. This site is selling ads and one of them does this. Here is a screen shot. This is so annoying!

That screenshot is not garden.org @clintbrown

None of the ads on Garden.org should ever show popups like that. If you see it again on this site, please take a screenshot and post it here.

Safari recently had an update which removed some ad blockers, it happened approx a week ago.

That screenshot is NOT garden.org, because the spam is pushing our systems/Safari to a Spam AD. You cannot backup from it. You have to close down and erase. The problem DOES originate from this site somehow. You are not the only site that has this problem, however someone should be looking into it and finding a remedy for the issue... Not being dismissive or defensive. Grumbling

I have the exact same problem on my IPad, I'm still trying to resolve the issue.

It gives tutorials on how to bypass this issue on an iMac or MacBook, but not the iPad safari version. Thanks though.

How did you turn off all ads for this site? Was it by going to profile and turning widgets to "no"?

If you have made enough contributions to the database, there should be an option to disable ads.

Lin, that option is only visible to members after they have made a certain number of contributions to the database. Most people haven't.

This thing is something different than the usual site ads( which I see) this one takes over my iPad and there is no way to close it out. I have to go back to my home page before I can do anything else. Many others are also experiencing this because it has come up on other threads, especially on the hibiscus forum from what people are posting.

This ad did in fact come from this site. Your site has an ad in it that is sending us to that spam ad site. It did it over and over on the Hibiscus forum. I couldn't even post the other day. You can't go back to the forum. It even disables your back button in your browser.

The daylily threads have the same issue. I'd open a thread and within 10 seconds (or less) i can't do anything. I changed my browser on "private" and it still pushes through. "Private" browsing was made for ... ahem... private sites Whistling I never use it... but that setting doesn't work, when it should block almost everything. The only other step I have on my iPad is to block all cookies and then I can't use the site at all. Sighing! The problem seems to come and go, most likely on what ads are on screen. But today, again I couldn't use most of the site at all. Thumbs down
I miss talking to fellow flower nuts 🤣

For the members that have the choice to disable ads for this site...

Did disabling ads, using the link below, on garden.org resolve the issue?

https://garden.org/users/prefs...

(FYI, the disabling ads option only appears to members that have made 100+ contributions to the plants database.)

"Private" browsing is designed simply to avoid leaving records on your PC of what you were browsing. Online banking is an example of something that people use private browsing for. It does not block ads, although (depending on the browser), it can block third-party cookies (to prevent ad servers tracking you across websites).
