Enjoys or suffers cold winters
We haven't had voles, as we don't have moles to dig the runs for the. Hot & cold running chipmunks, however. Red tail hawk on an oak tree yesterday & saw it drop to the ground. so perhaps it will return & help out.

Rolling on the floor laughing cute bunny butt...the trouble Ive had with those piney squirrels, chewing on the porch...grrr,so glad they dont dig an eat my bulbs..thatd be worse... Rolling on the floor laughing ..We see deer everyday, few day ago was out on the porch 7;30am,saw a buck an a doe meandering through, wasnt 3 minutes later BOOM,30 seconds later BOOM,guess that buck was somones dinner, neibor is letting somone hunt, its still a little close for me ,just make sure to shoot east please.that neibor is having an awful time with the deer eating all of his plants and pooping everywhere by the house...Ive never had these issues ??? Then we found out the other neibor is feeding the deer in the winter 2 years now ???? I dont get that at all,We have always seen deer here ,but last winter we were having 10-14 at a time.none of us have dogs outside anymore, but I hope she dosent feed them this year. They have plenty to eat. I just hope the guy comes back an hunts more,we have plenty.

Ive seen my New Hawk, need to look him up again,Im thinking sharpshinned..we have several red tailed hawks, nesting nearby, ive never seen them hunt here ,but ive seen the new guy hanging out down in the wetlands,he is smaller than a RT,good looking he is.

Cooper's Hawks here. I love them as long as they are dining on the right things ... which they sometimes don't. Blinking

We have deer in the woods behind us too, but the neighbor's dog has been keeping them away more this year. I'm really sort of glad. We have enough ticks in the Spring without them. Glare
I garden for the pollinators.

I think deer will be coming through a lot more this winter as the acorn crop was very poor. Certainly by spring they will be trouble, looking for something to ear. We have seen fewer this yr & the stnd for the bow & arrow guy hasen't been used. Still shotgun & black powder season. No rifles in this area as houses are too close together.

We took a tick off the cat a few days ago.
I love hawks. They nest in a tall evergreen by the creek about 200 yards away. The 3 fledglings payed out deck a visit last September. Just a riot to see them soooo gawky and awkward and after a few practice runs across the back yards and into spruce trees, they just left and I havnt seen them since.

The dogs are useless against the deer here, all dogs have invisible fence. The deer cruise thru at will.

Might need to get the deer some collars, lol....

We have a cornfield at the edge of the property that was abandoned this year, and there's a river just a few yards away. Food, water = deer heaven. Thank goodness for my German Shepherd.... sometimes!

Ohhhh yes the water thing. This is a development on an old farm there is a creek that meanders thru the back of houses across the street. Deer eat in the gardens comming and going for water.

Its funny odd that the neibor lady feeds the deer. we are out in the country surrounded by water, woods and fields of corn and beans, lots left on the ground, after harvest.Looks like the hunting season for deer has been a good one for the deer hunters this year. I think they gave more tags out ,at least I hope they have ..LOL

Its against the law to feed deer in New York State.
I believe more tags is how the DEC controles the population.
