I know you do, Rita, and it is one of your many endearing qualities. I wanted to address the part that said you HAD to find more tomatoes for her. Smiling

LOL, that looks weird at the top of a new page. I was saying that because of Rita giving away so many vegetables from her garden, for the love of it.

Smiling

And, Lily is a very appealing looking little dog, by the way.

Kyla, I often wish I could share with all my ATP friends here. I always grow tons of tomatoes. And thank you on the compliment on Lily. I think she is the cutest neatest thing.

Debra, I know. I know. I do really appreciate her kindness.

Here's two of my newest: Coco (the dark brown tortie) and Barney (the ginger). Our rural neighborhood has a lot of feral cats (fewer now than in previous years because I and a neighbor have been taking them in as pets and also spaying/neutering/releasing). These 2 were born on Easter Sunday 2014 under my chicken shed to a feral mom (who unfortunately passed away 2 weeks ago). Barney is a confirmed housecat now, but Coco is still wild and only comes onto our deck to eat and play with her brother.

Very sweet! It's interesting that one has become a housecat and the other not!

So very cute. I hope Coco tames down. She is still very young so hopefully she will.

I have not been to the dog friendly park here in town where dogs are welcome for about a month as I avoided the place while my little dog was in heat. I think its safe to bring her back there again now that she is done. I think she misses being able to run off leash or maybe it's me that misses being able to let her run off leash. She is a joy to watch running flat out at full speed.

Meanwhile I do take her on long exercise walks most days. We went for a nice one this afternoon as the weather is glorious.

Oh sure. Great fun. I had to cover the bed and couches in old sheets and wear old clothes cause she always likes to sit in my lap. But I put up with it for one time. Both my vet and I felt it is better for her long term heath to have one heat period first before she gets spayed. Like my vet said it is sort of like letting them go thru puberty first before getting a hysterectomy.

It must be different with cats. My vets all say get female cats spayed at 6 months (or even a bit earlier) before their first heat. We've done that for years and it seems to have no effect on them either way...they are just "cats"... I guess it's because it's so hard to control the breeding of cats...

With dogs, my vet prefers to wait until the animal is at least eight months old to let all the muscles and such be more fully developed, then have it done anytime afterward. Don't know if she has the same philosophy with cats. Smiling

I know Lucky my barn cat has fleas and since I can not touch her, I need to find something to put in her food. It is always something, I just hate to see her scratch. She is such a cutie I want her to be comfortable. Any suggestions or do I call the vet.

Sorry JB, I wish I knew of something that just goes in cat food but I don't know if there is such a thing.

With Cats but this was years ago, my vet always said 6 months is a good time to get them done. No one ever said to wait for a heat cycle. It seems to be different with dogs.

But not all vets advise waiting so each person has to decide for yourself and your dog what is best to do. And then think of all these rescue and adoption agencies. They get the dogs spayed as soon as possible. They have to get them done before pups leave for their new homes.

I am not one for dress up with dogs. But she gets cold so I know she will be needing a sweater. And a thicker winter coat also but those weren't in stock yet.
