Leaflady, the problem is how do I use this recipe without killing the entire garden. Even if I wear rubber gloves then cotton gloves over them and dip in solution and rub on ivy. the ground ivy is all over my other plants as well. I have a small lot in the suburbs with each house almost kissing. Might I be risking causing a fire? Will it have an effect on neighboring yards? I am also concerned about storm water run off. I appreciate all info you have on this because if it works without hurting my neighbors or the environment then I'm in!!!!

I gthink this thread escaped me some how. I'm Cece (Cherie) and I live in Wisconsin. I've seen most here who have heard of me or talked to me there are a couple I have never met. I love my gardens, all 23 of them plus my tropicals that I bring in every fall and set out every spring.

Man is it hot. Sweat rolling in my eyes as I type and I have the ac on. It is 106 in my sun room................

Moved CeCe's pics to another thread cause chat began and pics....
The thread "CeCe's garden" in Midwest Gardening forum

try everybody (please?) to keep it to introductions and welcomes so if we forget who somebody is, we can cheat and browse through this thread to figure it out. There is a chit chat thread 1 started you can jump over to if you don't want to start a new one. thanks.

Hi I'm Doris AKA sewNsow.I've been gardening at the same place, near West Branch,IA,for 45 years. The beds are getting pretty full. I have a big daylily collection, but I love all flowers. I collect coleus, too. I love to make mixed containers, even tho it takes time to water them.I'm saying"I" ,but it is really "we". My hub does the biggest share of the work.
I'm a friend of Wandas & I've met some people here but I can't put names with faces.i had a stroke in May & my memory isn't as good as it was.I've noticed this as I'm working with my daylilies.I can look at one I've had for years & the name will escape me. I usually think of it later.
I hope this forum takes off because it is so nice to get on the computer, especially these oppressive days.
Fun in the winter,too.
There is an Iowa forum at that other place, but it is practically dead.

Hi Doris, I may have met you at Wanda's...don't really know, I was there only once (my first "RU"!).

As long as people are willing to start some gardening topics in new threads I'm sure the Midwest forum can take off! Looking forward to it too. Smiling

Hi Doris, I'm close to you, but we don't go thru West branch too much. Are you in town or out in the country? I love daylilies too and I think I'm fondest of my old timey one's that were given to me.

Hi everyone, thanks for the welcome.I hear Wanda speak of Always Weeding.
Sally ,I live in the country.I go to Nichols to the pond place. That girl is sweet. I didn't get there this year, though. She was out of water hyacinth & I got 1 from my sister. We go to Muscatine now & then. Not so much since gas got so high.I have followed your postings on DG.,some,,since you are not far from me.
Maridell, I was referring to the Iowa forum on GW.

Greetings to some old friends, and some new ones. I'm Sheila, and my user name explains my pets, we have five siamese cats. A new little one who is full of P and V, and some a bit older and one very elderly old girl who hasn't missed a meal in15 years.

Don't know how much time I'll spend here as I already spend too much time on the computer but I'm pleased to be here and interested in joining in the conversations.

Hang on....I'm looking for a picture without wrinkles....oh, this one will do. Gee, when did I have this taken? Musta been a while back.....

Let's see, we garden on an acre of land, we have several raised beds which the deer treated as a buffet table last year. We grow a lot of flowers and vegetables in ground level beds which are too numerous to count. I don't plant anything I have to dig up or move back into the house in winter, because if it can't survive in the tundra, it's not gonna live here. My spouse does lots of the heavy work, and I point and suggest...he also has several collector cars so he doesn't spend a lot of time inside in good weather.

No kids at home, yay, grandkids are growing up and having kids of their own, but so far just one great-grandchild.
