Wow, Jim I couldn't possibly pick a favorite out of that wonderful display of blooms.

Lindsey, I'd sure be trying to borrow a minivan or a pickup truck with a shell to go on that trip, if I were you! Too bad you settled too far north, I've got a nice full size Toyota Tundra sitting out there in the driveway . . . too bad DH gets home from his trip tonight. Can't wait to see what you bring home from Miami.

Homestead is just loaded with orchid nurseries, heck, nurseries that grow just about any plant you can think of. My wife and I spent the day in the Homestead area just going from orchid nursery to orchid nursery. Unfortunately, we were in Miami for the Orange Bowl and with baggage and everything, I just did not want to bring anything home. I bought nada.

Root porn! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing You're so right, Melissa. Very nice . . ahh . . . roots there, too.

My little NOID purple Den has popped some nice flowers open. Funny, the deep purple color comes through nicely in the shot with the big Catt, but by itself, the camera washes out all the blue. The other NOID Den has all its flowers open now.

Those NOID Dens can make some really nice orchids. If they get enough sun and water, they can grow into huge specimen plants and the blooms last for months. Very nice, Elaine.

One can only hope, Jim. I'm doing better with the Dens this year, but this winter will be The Test. Got to figure out for sure which ones need the dry, cold winter rest, and which ones need to stay warm all year. I'm thinking both of those purple ones above are warm lovers, (hard cane) and last year was the first winter I really went to pains to keep most of them warm.

Seems it worked! This is a second round of bloom on both of them.

My now big Luz Del Dia 'Kiilani' is similar. I always keep it warm and sunny and it nowadays blooms pretty much the whole Winter season inside. It took some years to get it to "go", but nowadays it is a reliable bloomer.

C. Caribbean Skies continues to darken and her fragrance is stronger now as well.

C. Shiela Lauterbach 'Equilab' FCC/AOS just started opening. She is in such deep shade that her petals/sepals look almost lime-yellow. They are in fact stark white.

Interesting color sequence pics, Ken. Many orchids do this but it is nice to see it laid out like that. Nice floof on the C. Shiela Lauterbach.

Thanks, Jim. I think the Shiela is going to be a beauty. She looks like she's going to be huge too.

It was hard to get these pictures with the morning sun on the plant and me being up on a ladder, but here's the C. Shiela Lauterbach 'Equilab' FCC/AOS now.

I think this is the final coloration of the Ctt. Caribbean Skies. The fragrance has continued to increase but is nice and not over-powering.
