I've just returned from a quick trip to Miami to pick up my plants that have been in foster care at my sisters house for the past two years ..while there she took me to Soroa Orchids in Homestead and ( what I shock...) I bought a bunch more plants...even found a couple that were on my wish list....
Here's one that is in bloom..Slc. Love Castle 'Kurenai'..

Ursula, nice Vandaenopsis Summer Stars.
Nice color on your new Love Castle, Lindsey.

I gave an orchid presentation at the Sun City library today at 2:00 PM. That's a 123 mile round trip for me and I didn't get home until 5:30. No other county library is further so I'm glad this one is over. I found a couple more bloomers today. This is the first of the winter Catts, Rlc. Marilyn Smith (Rlc. Krull's Carolina Passion x Rlc. Chia Lin). She sure looks like her mom.

Then I found this Galeopetalum [Gptm.] Giant 'Rhein Harlequin' (Z. Artur Elle x Glta. grandiflora). Pardon the tape but I bent the spike during transport to this afternoon's presentation.

I fear they will one day turn me in for abuse. Hilarious! I usually take an orchid or two to the Extension when I do desk duty. The receptionist and the agents seem to enjoy them. I also haul some to the orchid club meetings for the bloom table and to any orchid talks I am doing. I even take one along to choir practice as the gang likes to see them. It's nice to share them with others just like I share the pics with all of you.

Thanks, guys. Yes, Ursula, I like it too. The lip looks a little large for the rest of the orchid but I like the runny color look. The flower is larger than most Zygos.

Coming home, the Phrag Peruflora's Spirit was fully open. ( kovachii X). Just like the last bloom, I find the dorsal a bit small/somewhat unbalanced, but I think it is still a nice bloom

And the Octomeria grandiflora has a load of blooms. The plant always spots a bit outside in the Summer.

Jim, I think you could. It was outside all Summer long and didn't seem to object. i know, your area is hotter than NJ, but if you ever come across a cheap one, perhaps it is worth giving a Phrag a shot.

Great colors on the Phrag, Ursula and its a pretty shape too.

Jim I have one very similar to your Galeopetalum but I think my label reads Rhein Harlequin. Can't check it until I get home Friday though. OrchidWiz might give a clue.

I'm patiently waiting for my buds to open. Lots of spiking Vandas! In the meantime here is a really nice floofy Cattleya that was open fully at the MBG yesterday when we went up to water the Vanda collection.
