Thanks, Y'all! Paul is really doing a nice job taking care of the MBG orchids. It is a tough volunteer job as they don't have the staff to devote full time. With my help, the Vandas have done a complete turn around and are looking better than ever. Thumbs up

Elaine, your orchid is Zygolum [Zglm.] Rhein Harlequin (Zglm. Louisendorf grex x Z. Artur Elle).
Mine is Galeopetalum [Gptm.] Giant 'Rhein Harlequin' (Z. Artur Elle x Glta. grandiflora).

Half sisters so to speak.

I wrote 'Rhein Hariekin' based on an illegible tag and I couldn't really check it because it is only a clonal name, not a species name. I'm sure it is 'Rhein Harlequin'. The only thing you can hope for on a tag these days is enough of a hint to start some diligent research. Isn't that sad?

I'll go back and change my post.

Jim

Look at it as a puzzle, Jim. We can all use a little challenge or two.

They sure do look alike, although yours is most likely bigger.

I have two plants of Coelogyne fimbriata, a small, rambling Coelogyne. Both bloomed nicely then stopped for about two years. I am glad to see at least some buds and blooms this Fall.

Is it growing on a piece of cork and the cork sitting on a pot? I like the flower. I like "hairy" flowers. Whistling

Yes, this one is mounted to Cork, and I placed it on the Rajasthani fellow for this picture, using "him" as a stand.
You have seen this fellow many times here popping up when I take pictures, especially those of small ramblers? Normally both of these plants are placed over one of the fish tanks for extra humidity, filtered light underneath a couple of Vandas..... Smiling

You might remember me a couple of years ago tracking a small plant, which I had removed from our small Bog and looked suspiciously like a terrestrial Orchid. It turned out to be a gorgeous Spiranthes odorata. In the meanwhile, I have since then treated this pot like a water- loving, warm growing Orchid, keeping it in Canadian Peatmoss, and taking it inside with all my other Orchid in the Fall. I water it year around! This is now a couple of years later!

Since this did so much better than the few plants which I had planted at the bog overflow, I removed those also, potted them up and treated them the same/warm and took them inside over the Winter. I didn't take a picture yet, since this plant has one great looking spike, but just starting to show white color, so picture will follow.

Wow, we had them all over our lawn years ago, I don't know what has happened to them but I have not seen any recently (and I never use herbicide on the grass.) Look what a little moisture and fertilizer did for yours, voila, a pretty little orchid. Very nice.
