kqcrna said:I spent a couple of hours making my first real stab at spring clean-up in my yard. I didn't even make a dent. The weeds are incredible. So much work to do!

You know, for all the hours I spend exercising, I'm not in very good shape. It takes me so much longer to do things now. I'll probably be stiff tomorrow, too. I'd better do stretch some more.

Karen

Karen ... I've been saying the same thing. That's why I upped my exercises. Of course, that set me back, but only have a little exercise pain. Thank God, it was raining during the time of the worst pain. Yes, I did some spring cleaning, but couldn't go all out ... Sad

The pain is going away, but I keep doing things that kick it up. I had to split some wood today ... Grumbling

I seem to only have two speeds ... dead stop and all out go go go ... nothing in between. Arghhh

I saw my doc today and was totally impressed. When I first mentioned BED to him, he told me he didn't know much about it. He certainly knows a lot about it now !

He complemented me on not gaining weight this winter and then prescribed a med that should help me control cravings. He said it is working very well with another one of his patients. This is the guy that used to verbally beat me up for being overweight. Complete turn around and now is totally supportive. Hurray!

He now recognizes that BED is not just about diet and exercise to control weight. He actually understands that it is not all about will power. There's a LOT of behavioral changes that I need to make as well as the mental adjustments. It takes time to make those changes permanent. I just have to work at it every day.

Of course, I am doing my homework, too. I think that makes a difference.

Anna ... I am so glad you ate my share of everything at the food show ... Big Grin

Those mushrooms look fantastic. I've kind of been on a mushroom kick, but they bumped the price at the market up here, so I had to pass on them today.

I did my exercises this morning, then went to the doc. More errands and came home and did about an hour's worth of weeding. I'm done.

Lyn, that was a great doctor visit, I am very happy for you. I hope the pills aid you in your struggle with the craving. Also sounds like your doing well with one or another form of exercise, chopping wood and housework definitely counts. Thumbs up

Chopping wood sounds like hard work to me (Not that I've ever tried it...)

Karen ... it was hard when I first started. It used to take hours to do what I can do in 30 minutes, now. I couldn't hit what I was aiming at ... *Blush* *Blush* Also, since I know I am going to need smaller wood in spring, I set aside wood that I think will split easily. Then the axe or the maul does most of the work.

In a way, it's a sign of spring. It's getting warm enough so that I don't need as large of fires to warm the house to comfortable. In the morning, if my night fire held, the temp inside the house is 60F. That's fine if you are outside in the sun, but inside, it feels cold. It doesn't take a big fire to heat the inside up by about 8 or 10 degrees ... Smiling

I don't have a fireplace, and only did when I lived in an apartment for a couple of years. Hence, never a need to chop wood.

I used to split wood for a fireplace many years ago so I know what it is like, I did enjoy doing it.

Lyn, did you ever get your fence fixed where they deer were getting into your yard?

Kelly, it took three trips for my handyman to block all of the entry points she found to get into the house pad. Once she couldn't get up there, the doe started on the deer resistant plants in front of the house. She ate all of my blue eyed grass. Chomped on my tree of heaven and my star magnolia. She ate all of the lungwort outside of one of the deer cages where I have a rose growing and the peonies down in one of the street beds. She also ate all of the vinca on the slope between the driveway and the carport.

I think she moved onto someone else's garden. We did put up a fence under my neigbor's forsythia hedge which is where the deer were entering the front garden. So far, I haven't seen any deer in the front gardens this year. They were coming through under the hedge. They could jump the fence on the side of the house, but haven't bothered, so far. It seems like they are too lazy to go around the front yard and up the stairs.

However, with all of the rain we have had this year, my tiny lawn is no longer the only green spot in the area. I think that helps, too.

Margaret .... now that I have learned how to read my wood and how to hit what I am aiming at, splitting wood is a chore I don't mind so much ... if my back isn't giving me fits. There are other chores that are much higher on my "hate-that-chore" list ... Hilarious!

Exercise for the day was bell practice. They hadn't set up our tables for us; so we had to drag them out, remove two rows of chairs and rehearse. We all made it in spite of freezing rain that cancelled the senior choir later. this is the piece we playing on Sunday, though not quite as fast. This clip is at the upper edge of the speed range. We will be at the lower one. For me, it means more exercise as I'm directing in three instead of in 1 as this clip is.

Unfortunately, we don't have all those bass bells. But in that clip they are using the aluminum bells and they are much lighter in weight.

Still... I'm sure they get lots of exercise ringing the bells, lots of arm movement involved.

When I started my walk today, I turned on the exercise function of my Fitbit which measures the time spent in that particular exercise, distance, footsteps, etc. When I ended the walk, I forgot to turn it off. 3 hours later I remembered and cut it off. Now my weekly history will say I took a 3 hour walk today - should really up the statistics!!

I am soooooo glad I did my exercises before I went to haul mulch material home. After I got it unloaded from the car, I wondered if I could even find the energy to haul MYSELF up the stairs.

After some lunch and a break, I was fine and out in the garden again. It was just such a beautiful day, I couldn't stay inside.

Ugh, I had another of those muscle spasms in my leg the night before last. Now my leg hurts so much I can hardly walk. I was planning to go to the gym today but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

It will be back to my sister's restaurant today to scrape more grease. I said I'd bring lunch. I want to make grilled cheese sammies on her grill (or broiler..........). I'm also going to play with her oven again and make a pie. Maybe 2, if I made enough filling. LOL I'll make them up here at home and bake there. Hard to find a surface large enough to do anything like roll out a crust; there is so much equipment on the tables. I'll be glad when the shelves they had to take down can be put back up and some of this "dis-array" can be put back to rights. Rolling on the floor laughing

We've got errands to do today, but it's supposed to be fairly mild. We'll see what the footing is like and probably get a walk in later. Have decided on the route for Monday's walk - 4.69 km with a hill.
