I think I have identified this one but of course I'm never 100% sure I ended up a few years back with a wheelbarrow full of irises all historical I planted over 200 ( they were small and some grand mamas) love the surprise each season.

I agree with Niki! And right by the water. Big envy here!

You're right, it doesn't look like Wyomissing. The others pictures look different.

Thank you for the comments and yes the pond looks great when full , my attempts at filling it with water lilies has failed to date as I get very dry summers and my pond ( one of six ) nearly drys up completely .
it's not a pretty sight when dry guess I shouldn't of mentioned this as it spoilt your illusion .
Celia you asked if these were Australian Irises?
I live in New Zealand but do have some Australian breed Irises and of course from the USA 😊
For more pics of my garden try F.B. Kahumingi Irises page. The only Bearded Iris still hanging in there today is Swingtown then another year to wait.

My first thought was that it was a Ghio that I have.. but it didn't match any that I was thinking of.. I have 'Judge's Special' that looks similar... but I'm not convinced.

This is my Mum's indestructible NOID. She's had it for years and it basically grows like a weed. About 18 months ago I salvaged some of her rejects (small pieces after division that she'd forgotten about and had sat in a bag under a tree to the point where the bag had fallen apart from exposure to the elements and a few of the rhizomes were attemping to grow leaves - probably 6 months or so). They were all pretty small - the average size was probably 4" long and 3/4" thick. But all of them grew and survived and have multiplied (almost to a ridiculous extent) and are now blooming in their second season here.

They are the earliest of any of mine or her irises - the first one opened here on 1st August. The winter elements made a mess of them, though, so it's only been the later blooms in the past week that I've been able to get nice photos of. There are still more stalks on the way (I count at least three) and half a dozen blooms on the existing two stalks yet to open. Each stalk has three or four blooms and they open in succession - I haven't seen more than one bloom open at a time on a stalk. I don't have a measurement for the stalk height, but my guess is that this falls into the IB category - it's too tall for a dwarf and too small for a TB.

Any thoughts on a possible ID would be much appreciated.

Well, I have a few blooms open today. This NOID came with the purple NOID from my Mum; it seems almost just as indestructible. I didn't realise I had it until earlier this week, when the buds weren't purple (I had assumed all the rhizomes from the pile I raided were the purple NOID).

It's about the same height as the purple NOID and similar form. Probably an historic IB.

It looks like a lovely historic iris, Joshua. Just lovely. I am glad you got some of the white as well as the purple. It could be an old TB. Some of them are not nearly as tall as the newer TB's. Beautiful beard too. Smiling
