This one is such a nice kinda lilac color. It's about the height of an intermediate and has a nice light scent.

Here's a NOID that opened last night in my wife's Iris bed. It looks rather rumpled no thanks to all the rain we're getting at the moment. Hopefully by the time the other buds open on it the rain will have stopped and I'll get a better photo.

Sherry, thanks I think you're right. I thought it was an IB, but with shorter leaves. The larger flower must appear when it is particularly happy. When I distribute it though I will continue to call it a noID.

John your noID(fantastic blue?) is really pretty.

Chris I think your noID looks like Bratislaven prince. Mine hasn't bloomed yet.

I really like that color combination Chris. It really stands out. How large is your wife's iris bed?

Thanks Cameron, I'm a poor judge of sizes so I took a quick photo in the rain. All my Iris's are planted against the house in a row.

Judy's are in the center clump. I have no idea how long they've been there but I do remember she got mad one year because they weren't blooming and mowed them all down the next year they all bloomed.

That's a nice sized clump Chris. Thumbs up I got frustrated when some of my three year old irises didn't bloom, but on the third year they must have sense my frustration. Hilarious!

I would say it's closer to Slovik Prince. Check out the beard. Bratislaven prince has a bright orange tip on the beard, and the halo on the standards is darker.

Apologies for the late reply to your post Tom, I'm going to go with your suggestion. What is the best way to tag these? I have some of those Ferry Morse tags with the hole in the end. Would it work to write the name on the tag and then use some florist wire to gently tie it to the plant? Does anyone have any ideas on the first one I posted? It's back on the first page of this thread.

I can't think of any good way to tie a marker to an Iris that would last any more than a season. Most of us use metal markers like these:
https://everlastlabel.com/inde...

I like this company... they are one of the fastest shipping places I've ever dealt with. Other folks like to do business with Kinsman or Lee Valley, and they're fine too.

You can either write on them with a soft pencil, or use a Brother tape labeler with UV resistant tape. The tape is easier to read. I'll often write other info on the back of the label w/ pencil.. The Ht, Season, Year and where I got it. I've got all that info on my database, but sometimes it's just easier when you're out in the garden to have that information in front of you. A word of caution: UV resistant marking pens & sharpies *may* last for a season or two, but fade while you're not looking.

There are other, fancier, bulkier labels out there... but these seem to hold up for as long as I need them to work.. (My older ones are 12-15 years old, and I can still read the pencil)

It's not: Amigo's Guitar, Milestone, Gypsy Lullaby, Dutch Master and a few others that I've ordered or researched.. It's such a good grower and bloomer......

@chris1948 here is what I use:

Thumb of 2016-04-19/enidcandles/8eeb41

They are the Everlast zink markers with Brother indoor/outdoor laminated labels for the Brother label makers. My label maker is a Brother P Touch from Staples, not expensive.
I have some of these out there that have lasted for 5 years with no fading or lifting. I have also had very little problem with rust on the stakes and I think the ones that rusted were from somewhere else.

In a pinch to mark temporarily duck tape and a sharpie work well! I made a lot of duck tape labels before I got my markers.

Thanks for that, those look really nice. I'll have to check them out along with the label maker.
