Lynn, does O. furusei make the flat inner circle like O. spinosa? It seems that some do, and others are more like Sempervivum

Terri you are suppose to put your fingers in your ears, not your eyes. That has to really hurt. Sad Come on, just one little teensy look won't hurt anything.
Look, it won't hurt you. See how sweet it is.

Jacki I'm not sure how this one will do as I got it last fall and haven't had it a full year yet. Here it is all closed up for winter. It amazed me when it started coming out of dormancy this first of this year. From what I've see so far, this one looks like will give the appearance more like a semp.

Lynn, that top picture is incredible. I'm blown away by the colours in some of the Orostachys, especially in the fall. When was that taken? I'm assuming it's O. furusei?

UhOh Terri, now we know you have something to trade...

Jacki, On your trade list, I think that one name should be "Piliosium". I'm really worried about the name for this one (I have it) as it is not on any species lists I could find. It sure is a beautiful semp though.

Thanks Twit - I simply copied and pasted, mistakes and all. I wonder if it says a different name on the picture she sent.

That one says pilioseum. Does that sound right?

The Orostachy from Mesa Gardens has really been growing since it warmed up. We are now in the high 50's at night and anywhere from the 60's to the 70's for day time temps.

Okay, time to transplant the Orostachy. I think some of them will find a new home in the wonderful hypertufa containers from Chris. Thumbs up

These have been out in the raised beds since last fall except for O. eburnifolia, as I was told it will not survive the winter with all the rain we have. I kept it on the deck under the roof.

I am finding that the slugs love the O. spinosus plants. The one I had out in the raised beds did well with our weather, until the slugs found it. They ate every last speck of the plant. Never touched the other varieties sitting right next to it.

They're doing great Lynn. Why can't slugs like to eat weeds instead of the best plants? Sad

Slugs aren't a real problem here this year either. Never thought about it being because of the heat.

I don't think they have much of a root system twit, at least not that tiny baby spinosus. Nothing came back. : (
It's sure funny how they don't go near the other varieties. So far they seem to be easy to grow, at least here.
I have never found slugs feeding on the weeds. Confused
