The cold hit pretty hard...then they recovered in the warmth...guess it was past time to bring things in ...so in they have come..all left that's left put into a community container... Under a metal halide light they should bounce back and look good growing on top of one another

Here are a few pics of some of my other Begonias. Some of these are recouping from a short period of neglect but they are doing well now. Other than the Escargot I don't have names for these so if any of you can ID a few of them please speak out. I think the one with the ruffled leaves might be a beefsteak as the leaves get bigger they are less ruffly but even at their largest they have a bit of a ruffle at the edges.

Janet, nice ones you have there too!! I don't know Begonia's all that well but your first one reminds me of one I grew a number of years back that was named Angel Wing Begonia (Begonia 'Lois Burke')
I've grown a few Rex types over the years too but they never seemed to do well unless I kept them in a terrarium. The Rexes have such gorgeous leaves!

Love the Beefsteak begonia. Memories of my grandmothers plant with leaves so large that I stole a leaf or two to make bonnets for my doll. Oh, I was chastised many times. Remember this from over 60 years ago. Wow! Now I need to find one.
I love seeing all your begonia's one is prettier than the other Mine passed away and I havent replaced her yet, note to self, never go away and let someone water your plants

What is a good source to find a Beefsteak Begonia? Can it be rooted in water?
I tried Logee's, very small for the price not including shipping. The Ieaves were okay but the stems were spindly and weak looking. It died after a couple of months.

You probably would need to order or trade for it. Stores usually have more fancy "Rex" Begonias & those suicidal Reigers. An owner-operated store would probably be your only shot as far as shopping in person.
