I have been searching for that NOID Dendrobium for hours and it's just not going to happen. I think I will settle for 'D. nobile type hybrid'. I was pushing this because the plant is covered in blooms and I would like to take it to the Tampa Orchid Culb meeting next Tuesday and have it judged. I may take the Schomburgkia and the Lyonara as well. I don't know if I can get the Schomburgkia inside the truck without breaking the cane so it might have to stay home.

Here's Paph. delenatii with 2 blooms Big Grin The few times I've had a delenatii with 2 buds, 1 either blasted or the bloom soon fell off. This one's been open for about a week and a half.

I've only been a member of this orchid club for a few months and haven't figured it out yet. There seems to be an 'alpha male' who runs everything, sells supplies, does all of the judging , etc. If he likes you, you win a ribbon. If not, it's off to the mulch pile. I just sit in the back and observe. They do have good speakers from time to time. I'm really not much of a meeting person; prefering to spend my time actually accomplishing something.

I haven't figured out my orchid society yet either but I know a few of the alpha players for quite a while. Lots of politics though.

Caularthron ( Diacrium) bicornutum - bought last May from Andy. It produced a nice growth last Summer and finally I see the spike opening. (Plant pics to follow)

Wow, thank you for all the support. I will need to learn to photograph my plants better Smiling I love looking at all of yours and see how easily this could become an obsession. They are ALL so beautiful and unique.

My dragon, Esmirelda guards the Miltonia. So far, she has kept my cat, the paph destroyer, away. Most of my few plants are in my study which has south and west windows, and I can close the door so the dog and cat do not get in unless I am there to supervise their visits, but I also like to have a plant in bloom in other rooms as well. It is set back from a west facing window, and has been doing well since I purchased it in February. Humidity (lack of) is my major concern, but I have a humidity tray and mist it in the AM. It will give me some warning if it is not happy, right?

thanks everyone!!
Jo

Carol, Paphs are probably my favorite(at least this week). I really like the mottled leave types, but have never had much success with them. I think I like to water too much.
Bree, I know what you mean about the long lasting flowers. I've had a few that I almost got sick of. I actually like the bud formation better than the flower. Especially the loooong petaled ones.
