I live in Zone 3 (Central Minnesota. I have red raspberries that do well, and would like to plant black raspberries. Do they cross polinate creating a different variety or is it ok to plant them in the same vicinity?

It's okay to plant both in your garden. Each will produce fruit true to its type without being influenced (or cross pollinated) by the other.
