Just in case, I want you all to know that no fun is being poked at real dependency issues. I've dealt with that with family and friends, and it is no laughing matter.
Back to the thread subject, I did plant 2 of the 9 plants I bought last night, and 3 of the daylilies I divided. Still there was a significant net increase in my pot ghetto. Like Susan, Inow have a multi-level ghetto, as the line in front goes up the front steps.
Happy 4th everyone!

Understood.. *Blush*

We only joke about our implied addictions and it is all in the name of fun, never 'making light of' real life dependency issues. I think most of us forget about real life when we come to ATP,.. it is great fun! Green Grin!

Jeanie, welcome to the Ghetto!!

Happy 4th to everyone and for people on east coast please be safe as this hurricane passes. Group hug

Thanks Susan. I had so many good long belly laughs over this...there are some very funny people here. It is good for the soul! And good to know I'm not the only one with a boig ol' pot ghetto!

Forgot to attach updated photo of my front, now multi-level, pot ghetto.
Thumb of 2014-07-03/foraygardengirl/5cece3

I will reduce this by a few plants that go to my daughter's place tomorrow, and I am hauling at least one load over to my friend's place even though the excavator did not level her yard yet. So I guess now I'm guilty of spreading the (sub)urban blight....

I agree with all of the above. Real dependencies and compulsions are really serous and painful.

>> I do think that Rick's 12 steps are probably not the ones we should use in our groups... no offense, Rick.

None taken. I can tell you from experience that those DON'T cure the habit. I don't have a pot ghetto yet, but I do have a tub ghetto that's growing.

Rick, I laughed so hard at those 12 steps of yours....really really funny Hilarious! Rolling on the floor laughing Hilarious! . That IS a pretty significant seed habit you have there...but at least you're organized! Imagine what would happen if you just threw all the seeds in a big box or pot.... "Oh wait, I know I have a Sombrero lemon yellow coneflower seed in here somewhere...." Rolling my eyes.

Note: I typed this message early this morning and got busy collecting more plants for the ghetto. Forgot to hit 'finished'.

Oh, dear. I thought my O-Seed-D and my plant collecting obsession were real dependency issues. Confused Rolling on the floor laughing

Seriously, I will bet that most people do not get into their car every day by first checking to make sure there is a shovel in the trunk of the car, plastic bags for collecting seeds, small pots and some potting soil, bottles of water to keep plants alive, a cut-off soda bottle to hold cuttings, a notebook and pen to write to collection location, a camera to document the plant's environment, etc.

I gotta run now because as I was walking the dog early this morning I spied a new plant growing along the roadside - looks similar to the creeping cucumber/Melothria pendula but the leaves are different, a darker green color...now where is my camera. Whistling

I prefer smelling like dirt. I accidentally wore perfume once in the garden and a bee tried to get in my ear. LOL. From then on I smell like dirt and deet. Rolling on the floor laughing Whistling Hilarious!

>> dirt and deet.

DEET is great! Once I was away form home without any, in clouds of bugs, so i tried chanting its chemical name out loud: "N, N, diethyl meta toluamide". I don't think it deterred any bugs, but it did produce a meditative state.

We should organize a march: "We Want More Pot Blight!"

We'd gather SOO many undercover pot ghettoists.

But then who would water our ghettos?

Maybe I'll just make buttons "I Like Blight," or "Pot Ghettoists Unite" (Who remembers Ike?) To be mailed only to certain states and provinces.

I Rolling on the floor laughing can't Rolling on the floor laughing stop Rolling on the floor laughing laughing. .Greene, you are definitely O. Seed D. I don't have seed collecting gear in my car, but I do have seat covers, plastic bags, cardboard boxes, extra pots and soil, and both large and small pruners all summer long. Then I can stock up on plants from any source, even if its raining. I stopped on the way home from work tonight to specifically get one ivy for a container, and somehow 8 more perennials, a juniper and a small tree found their way to my car...

You cover your car seats?? Rolling on the floor laughing
Anyone who rides in my car knows there will be dirt. They sit on dirt or they can walk.
I put the wet/damp/muddy stuff in the trunk on an old army blanket. Those old woolen blankets can soak up quite a bit of water.

So much chit-chat and laughter, fun yes, but where are the photos? I need more photos to get inspired. Thumbs up
