I bought these resin-coated wicker containers 3 months ago to hang my bougies in on my front yard lamp post. I'm embarrassed to admit I'm JUST now getting around to completing that little project. Better late than never I suppose. Smiling The liners are metal which I have never used before. Hope it doesn't get too hot and cook the roots. These only came in black plus that is what I think looks best on this lamp post. I had to drill 5 drain holes myself as I think these baskets/pots were designed for indoor use. I need do go back outside and see why the one on the left is hanging at a slight tilt. Couldn't see that when we hung them earlier today. But other than that, do you think they look OK? I was afraid they were too big, but they were the next size up (1" bigger in width each side of root ball) for these plants. They were in dire need of up-potting as they were drying out and wilting every 24 hours with daily watering.

Great idea. When the plants fill in the baskets no one will see the baskets. Will they survive all winter?

You're probably right about them filling out and hiding most all the wicker basket anyway. Oh, I won't leave them hanging there for winter. I'll bring them in to the semi-outdoor atrium to winter over at the first 40º or freeze warning. I will prune back all my bougies and bring them all in to be safe. They have wintered over successfully in that atrium for 2 previous seasons now. So although it's roof is open, they do well in there. I only throw a blanket over plants in that atrium if we're going down to 40º or below. It's closed in on 4 sides. Only open on the rooftop, and not even all of that.

Peggy sounds like you have a great space to over winter tender plants.
I haul all my tender plants to the heated @ 45' greenhouse. Trim off all the branches and spray for any hitchhikers.

It's working out for me. At my last house all I had was fully inside the main house or my garage. Your greenhouse sounds very accommodating and any gardener's dream. I don't really have a good space for one here in the city. I may one day build one down at our rural cabin. There is a high-tunnel curved pipe variety abandoned on our neighbor down there's property. He said the last owners left it and he's doing nothing with it. It looks to be maybe 25-30' long and about 10' wide, I'd guess. I may one day ask him if he'd like to get rid of it and bring it to my place, where I have 40 acres to chose a nice spot for it. LOL
