My plants are doomed then. I have none of those set ups and garage is definitely not an option.

maybe set up a lamp (or 2) (with standard or halogen bulbs) in the middle of your plants during the night ....or perhaps use a space heater facing plants but a few feet away ...

if that isnt an option ....wrap the pots and greenery, in as many layers of blankets as you can

or go to a orange groove and ask to borrow one of their oil fired smudge pots Thumbs up

coldest time of day is usually the few hours before sunrise ..... so the "danger" is only a few hours .... but bear in mind, plants can freeze solid during that "few hours"

Haha, the solution from @deepsouth , using a tent and a bulb. Remind me of my childhood, when I kept small chicken, I used a carton box and a bulb to keep them warm at night. Smiling

Unfortunately that's not an option. Hubby can't stand outdoor plants being inside the house because of bugs. Indoor plants stay indoor. (But good thing is we found some winter blankets and tarps. Hurray!
Plumerias I covered the tips with brown paper bags. It worked last time we had a hard freeze for a couple hours. So hopefully it will work again this time. We are actually a couple degrees warmer than what the forecast sometimes say. So long as there is no rain. Rain and cold killed a lot of my plumerias and orchids last time.

I always do two things before moving plants inside .....

first - trim off any dead stuff ...and remove yellow leaves ...NEXT is to spray down plants with insecticidal soap ... getting every nook & cranny - what it doesn't kill, will run off - like frogs & lizards ....NEXT will allow the insecticidal soap dry -

second - wash off residual insecticidal soap and water plants to saturation .... this will be the last watering for the adeniums for at least 60-90 days

then move plants indoors

almost always its an all day job ....

When I move my plants indoors I just hard repot them (if applicable). Like for many succulents and some other plants I'll just wash out the roots and repot into fresh soil after the summer.是

And the die is cast! Watching the temps on temp gauge placed outside the plant "tent" city. This area is shielded from the cold wind, temps is dropping fast! The other side has the thicker blankets.

Thumb of 2022-01-30/GigiPlumeria/4edbed

I did the same thing, I pulled my 10+ year old elephant bushes and my California Sunset succulents and placed them in the garage. The pots were just too heavy for us to lift.

I cut my plumerias that I could not cover. These are branches from my seedgrown best smelling white plumeria. I will be devastated if I lose this one.

better safe than sorry ....if you can - throw on a few more layers ....and save at least one extra layer for yourself

for us in North Louisiana it was 24° last night just before sunrise ..... had to drip faucets to keep pipes from bursting
(dont forget about faucets) (!!)

wont get below 32° tonight .... no drip either

Hopefully we made it with no damage to my desert roses and minimal damage on my plumerias that we could not cover and other tropical plants.

Sun is up now but I will keep my desert roses and some plumerias covered for another night of possible mid 30s.

I have been monitoring our temp on the lanai where we covered my desert roses and moved them closer to the sliding doors (living room and master bedroom) of our house. Outside the plant's "tents", we only got down to 34. Closer to the door wall, the temp gauge recoded 40. The heat escaping from our door walls have most likely kept the plant "tents" temp higher.

Tempted to keep my desert roses covered for a few more days but except for tomorrow morning when low is supposed to be 35, the forecast of highs is mid 70s to 80 over the next few days.

The dew froze on the grass last night. My big adeniums were just under the eaves on the front patio, so they seem fine.

My 2 year olds have mixed results. I forgot to get them to a safer spot. They were about 2 feet from the house, concrete block, but in the open. Some show visible damage already. Some don't.

I've moved them to against the wall on the front patio hoping they won't get further damage.

Oh wow one is very happily blooming. Can you give your 2 year old immediate direct sun? Just watch the tips if they get mushy, the rot travels fast.

They all had direct sun until about noon when I moved them.

I work nights now. I make more in 2 days than I used to make in 6, but I still can't afford an apartment on my own.

I think sun up to moon is sufficient and we only have one more day of cold. For as long as you can probably put it closer to home before you go to work, then it should be fine.

My adeniums are in a covered patio too and they get sun up to noon. Around this time, the noon sun doesn't get too hot but summertime it gets hot under the direct sun. So I try to keep them on the same spot so they can adjust to the changes in the temperature.

Group hug Glad you got a better paying job. I'm a night owl, so if given a choice, I would probably prefer to work at night and have some daytime free to take a nap or go somewhere. I don't need a lot of sleep, 6 hours is plenty for me.

Base on all variegated adeniums that I ever see, the variegation only happened to the leaves, the flower more or less the same as others, come with all sort of different color like normal adeniums
