I'm confused about what you're calling sweet. Plain coffee, however you brew it, doesn't have sugar. What are you ordering?

I suspect my tastes don't match yours. I'm a French or Italian Roast fan, the darker the better. "Jet fuel" to some.

And, ahem, not to sound picky, but frappucino isn't coffee by any stretch of definition. It's a chemically formulated sugary coffee flavored imitation milkshake drink with excellent marketing.

Sorry Zoë. I meant a blend, not plain coffee. I'm a sweet tooth person in some ways, so my coffee I don't typically drink without agave.

Does coffee have any calories if nothing is added? I always thought not, or a negligible few, if any.

I have nothing against sweet, just prefer my calories in a different form later in the day.

I finally made some cold brew last night, drinking it now. It's absolutely delish! So smooth and it was so easy. I did the same proportion I would use to make hot coffee, put it in the 'frige while I was cooking dinner, so when I was ready for coffee this morning, it was ready, about 12 hours later. DH liked it so much, he had finished it before we left the house.

Except for a couple days when I forgot to get it ready the night before, we've been having cold brew every morning. I love spending less time on coffee in the morning, and how this method doesn't use any power to make coffee, except for the 'frige which would be running with or without coffee in it.

Tiffany, thought I had lost the French Press maker but I saw it yesterday. I finished the Mr Coffee pot this morning so when I get home tonight I'll try the cold brew. They sell small cans of cold brew coffee at wegmans and it's very expensive-I don't know why. I'm excited to try it.

I don't like Starbucks period. I don't like the vibe- it's snotty. Besides it's a "chain" restaurant like olive garden and Panera and I avoid "chain" restaurants.

If you think canned coffee is expensive (it is) you should not look at kombucha tea.
Not sure I would call Starbucks a restaurant though (more of a coffee shop). That said, I would never call McDonald's a restaurant either. That would be a fast-food joint to me. The name restaurant should be reserved for nice places with linen napkins.

I can understand not liking the taste of certain coffee, but I don't understand how an enterprise that has outlets in places like Target and grocery stores can be called "snotty." Sort of the opposite, I'd think.

Zoe, the Starbucks around here have had several issues arising from not serving Black customers and generally having an "attitude" about Black customers. There was an incident last year where a boycott occurred and upper management had to step in and clean up and do damage control. This year they had a walk-out by employees who wanted better pay and more hands-on management help. From what I've read, Starbucks is not the best place to work. Here anyway.

Did you try a French press, Brenda? I use that whether I'm making hot or cold coffee.

Switched to ice coffee a couple of weeks ago. So much easier to just pour a cup in the morning then making hot coffee every morning.

For sure! I think I'll start tonight, for tomorrow's coffee. I get on auto-pilot, so I'm a little worried about remembering, but I'll have to try it and see if I can switch the mental programming.
