Got it at EFG's sale. I think they are having or about to have another sale.

this is my 7.5 years old Caladium grown in 7.5 pot. This is a large variety with pink translucent areas. Most years it spent summers on my balcony in NJ, then would grow dormant.
This particular year it has been mostly indoors by southern window in Miami FL (no sun in summer at all due to building being So-No). It is the longest growing variety that I've had: it resprouted late Jan 2023, I took it indoors for summer late April and it has been going since: so full 12 months!
It was very full last July, then declined somewhat in Sep as it dried up a little: only had 3-4 leaves left. But sprung up again by late Sep and been growing since very well.
The petioles are very long since it is indoors And large variety: 2-2.5' and leaves on avg 8" wide by 13" long; with biggest 10"x18".

Nice Skylark Thumbs up I have one Caladium that popped up maybe a month ago, after all died back early from the hot dry summer. Amazingly it has done fine, despite low temperatures at night. I can't remember what it is, but it is the only caladium up in the garden in Feb.

Bea, they do look similar. Not a cold hard fern, I have to bring it in on colder nights.

Bird's Nest Fern Victoria (Asplenium nidus 'Victoria') Have had this for a very long time, does fine outside until below 38 too long.

I have this same birds nest outside here in Gainesville. Its been out there since we moved here in 2002. It has gone through ALL the 20F temps we have ever had, including 2010, and never even blinked. I think its hardier that you think, Sherri...or maybe mine is just in that perfect microclimate spot.

Sherri this is my old curly bird nest out if the yard. She really likes this spot. In past hard freezes I've had Costus and Alpinias freeze in the area but never this.

Lovely! I've left my birdnest fern out in a few light frosts and there was no damage that I could detect. It has been with me since 2013, wider than a doorway now. It's a 'Crissie.'

That's good to know, I took it in last year when we dipped to 32 all night, a last minute decision, since I was on a roll of taking in plants that night, I'm sure I've left it out before in freezing temps. It sure does look nice in the winter, as do many of my ferns.

Yeah I am a huge fan of leaving out what can survive and only breaking my back moving the really endangered inside LOL. Its why years ago I just decided that once things are in for the winter, they were staying there til spring. I can put up with my yard and cultivated areas looking barren for the winter. I'd really love to live a little farther South, but we'd never be able to affords a house like we have on the land that we have. Its a trade off. My new Hoffmania is settling in

Gina is your birds nest in the ground? I think that would make a difference Sherri, potted things are more susceptible in frosty weather.
