We are having a greenhouse built by a local carpenter similar minus the shed section on the photo below. I have noticed on the gable sides some greenhouses have a decorative point sticking a little higher than the gable peek on each side. Is there a name for that. I would like to design one. this is also my first post and I am excited about this forum.

Welcome to the forums! Welcome! Your photo didn't upload though, try it again.

I know there are often ornmental crests along a roof line, that also serve to keep birds off of the roof and keep their poop off the glass. Finial for one point? I'm trying to picture what you're describing.

Hi , thank you. I looked up finial and that's exactly what I was looking for thank you. We probably will just do the finial and not the whole crest

Designing your own sounds like fun! I've seen images from just geometric designs to dragons and gargoyles and pirates and weather vanes and everything in between. You know you now have to give us updated photos when it's completed! Hilarious!

Very cool, I will do that. My wife has the green thumb and I'm going to have her sign up on this too. I already started googling ideas.

My greenhouse is a very boring kit house - adequate but not exciting. I always wanted a Victorian Conservatory. A huge one at least 2 stories tall so I could grow exotic trees and jungle vines. Lovey dubby

I'd love that as well, Lucy! The closest I've gotten is remodeling a front porch to full windows that was nothing but plants and my rocking chair. Glass roofs in my area will always worry me about hail breaking the panes. Garfield Conservatory in Chicago was heavily damaged from a hail storm in 2011, I don't think many roof panes made it, after standing for more than 100 years. And I'm sure they'd have better glass than what I could afford.
