I have a plant in my yard that was rescued from my mom's when she passed. We had no idea what it was but we both liked it so i kept it. Hoping someone can help me with an identification. It seems to be doing well in my sweltering hot Florida yard with no additional help from me so I've been letting it do its own thing. Thank you for any advice!

Cardboard Palm (Zamia furfuracea)

It's not a Florida native but it is a popular landscape plant in some areas of the state. If you have young children or pets, please be aware that the attractive red seeds are highly toxic.

And it does look like that is a female (plants are either male or female). Obviously, there will be no seeds unless there are male and female plants nearby.
If you are worried about seeds, it is a simple matter to clip them off before they mature, and it takes a very long time for them to bear seeds.
