It is now later. The wind is strong tonight. There is warning for the sea. Supposedly 14km/hr but it sounds stronger. I worry for my first time flowerers tomorrow. Fuss, fuss, fuss.

So, welcome to the PARROT JUNGLE. A first for the garden.

Elaine. I like it too. It was hard to photograph because of a cloudless sky. I was using a large board to block the sun. I will have to stop doing that. With all the buds in the garden I am going to clumsily knock some off while doing the balancing act.

I must take a picture of a bud near to opening. It had a compressed, bowed shape such that the bud suggested a small flower. I was quite surprised to see a reasonably sized blossom when it opened today. It may have been idiosyncratic though.

I have a large, dark colored golf umbrella that I use for shading flowers to photograph, Glen. A bit more manageable? At least you can fold it while you walk between the plants.

Yes, I will have to get a second umbrella. I sacrilegiously used the daylily one to protect me from the rain last month and managed to leave it on the mainland.

Big golf one - that is an idea!

So much bud but few blooms today. The lull before the storm.

But RED BULL is blooming. I am so impressed with these very modern daylilies. So much bud, good colour, tall and great substance. I can feel my older cultivar clumps quivering in trepidation.

I bet your older cultivar daylilies are quivering in their fans. It is amazing what the flowers look like that the newer daylilies are producing. I was astonished when I saw ALL of the different types of blooms! I had NO idea how amazing the evolution of daylilies had become until I became a member of the daylily forum. They really blow my mind with so many possibilities! I am glad you managed to get quite a few and are sharing photos of all of them with all of us! I am so impressed!!! Thumbs up

Bee- yew-dee's all, Glen. Love the Corroboree Dancer's blazing color and the All The Magic X seedling is just perfect, my favorite color.

Must admit that impressive though it is, Mean Joe Green just goes 'way over the top on those extravagant messy edges for my taste, but nice colors.

Can't wait to see Double Rosedale when it finally doubles. Now that's a pretty form imho.

I hope I get a very good photo of Mean Joe Green, Elaine. It is a wonderful blossom. Double Rosedale is an excellent bloom too - when it starts behaving soon. It appears like there is a small light bulb illuminating the blossom from the back.

Vickie, I was going to compost it but when I came on to ATP I noticed people didn't judge a seedling just on the first year. I cannot believe how different it is to last year's flowering. It is a cute round pie crust sprinkled with sugar. Even so, it is not earthshaking, and is very similar to its pod parent.
