How often do you water it Jookieblue? It can go both ways over or under.., sounds weird especially about underwatering for succulents..but they do need a little more during very hot days. Or, I also see instances when succulents slowly drop some leaves, but it is actually conserving its resources because it maybe trying to redirect energy to some new growth..does your plant have any new growth coming about?

Sometimes the new growth maybe in the form of new roots which is not visible..yeah, photos would be good ..then we can all suggest what is going on.

Anyone have an idea of what the name of this is and can it grow outdoors in zone 6?

I don't know which cylindrical cactus that is, maybe Cleistocactus acanthurusbut, I can assure you that it can not grow in zone 6, because it can't tolerate freezing temps. It needs hot dry conditions. But, It's beautiful and looks happy growing where it is. Maybe the experts can help you.

A couple of nice, mature specimens. I won't even hazard a guess on this - there are just *so* many different kinds, you really need a shot of the flower (up close) and the spine arrangement in order to I.D. it.

But Deborah is right - these are typically tropical-to-sub-tropical plants, so unless you have a heated green house, probably not gonna make it. Where was the picture taken? I'm assuming somewhere in the S'west.
In the end, only kindness matters.

Science is not the answer, it is the question.

Beautiful. I want to see more pics. It cannot have as much white as shown to survive. I am thinking the white shown will be more of a yellow green? But I want one. Rolling on the floor laughing

Hello everyone,

I'm new here but have been looking in! I'm David.

That picture did look like a painting Greg Smiling

Jo Ann, I was sold that same Echeveria under the name Topsy Turvy too, and have had others tell me it was Silver spoons? Ha! You know the plant world and names...

It is one of my favorites, and is the one in the lower left corner in this succulent box. I call it my undersea planter.

I like the scape theme David.
Nearly everyone who tried an ID came up with Topsy Turvy.I'm going to stick with that one.
