Hope you had a nice weekend with the family, Connie. We did miss you at the table at Robert's Crossing; there was even an empty seat that had your name on it between Julia and Greg... Whistling

Everything has been wonderful around this weekend. We're going to spend some more time with Kevin today. Hurray!

Bev, I've been reading my way through all the books Lynn is waving under my nose, and the sheets you gave me from the previous clinics. Lynn and Cliff are really looking forward to having you and Jim move down to this area -- right now I'm typing while listening to Cliff sing Jim's praises! "It will be interesting to have them close by" is the most recent comment. Of course he's opining that he's surprised you aren't going to have more room for your plants, but then he knows you enjoy container growing... He is so proud of the picture Jim did of him and Petee!

And now when I get to ATP I can see so many of your faces. Don't know that I'll get out here again to see your new house, but we'll all be seeing photos and getting to see how your container gardens work out. Thank You!

Julia, thank you for the Hortlandia photos. It would have been wonderful to go to it, but I was so tired Sunday. Here it is Tues and I am finally starting to feel a little energy returning.

We just got home from spending the day at Kevin's place. I got some more photos of seedlings. Lovey dubby
How is this for pink? @JungleShadows, thank for the info Kevin. This is a seedling from 'Lilac Time' selfed.

Lynn,

So good spending the day with MR and you!

That seedling is from Lilac Time X self. It was the pinkest of those from that group.

Am glad to see you did get the group photo after some "technical difficulties"!

Kevin

Dear Kevin, Thank you for a wonderful day -- and for giving me the excuse to set up a new bed, dedicated to Vaughn babies! Hurray! Given my profession, I like to have collections from my friends so I can't forget to keep them on my prayer list as I Watch, Weed, Water the plants they've given me... (Lynn has a children's book by Graeme Base titled "Animalia" which has the most outrageous full-page illustrations for each letter of the Alphabet with every equally outrageous word for that letter... Hope the effect doesn't last too long....) Thank you very much. :thankyou:

And Lynn, thank you very much for making this week possible. We'll all treasure the group photo! Maybe someone can carefully list everyone's names "Left to Right" so those of us who are newer and bad with names can keep everyone straight? At any rate, just a bright idea... Whistling

MR, I thank you for coming, I just knew this would be a wonderful adventure for both of us. And sure enough it is. I will miss you when you go back home.

Planted the rest of the new semps today. Now waiting for the rain to come water them in. Good to go. The coming rain should also give a boost to the seedlings.

Lynn and MR,

Spent this afternoon rowing out seedlings and have filled 3/4ths of those two long beds (18' x 6') with seedlings now. Can you imagine the fun we'll have next spring studying all those lovelies? It looks like about 6K seedlings, maybe a few more. Some of the ones from St. Cloud X self have already developed cobwebs and quite a few of the seedlings are showing red or purple colors. The pots were more in the shade so most were sort of grass green when I rowed them out.

MR, am so excited you have a "Kevin Vaughn bed" in your garden. There is a hosta garden in OH that has a huge bed of Vaughn hybrids with a big sign that says "Kevin Vaughn hybrids". It was a shock touring the garden at the hosta convention!

Was so glad to treat you to your first po' boy sandwich and the proper protocol for eating one! They are SO yummy!

OK back to my diet!

Kevin

@JungleShadows @valleylynn Was wondering whether you could provide a link to the handout that you gave to all of us who showed up at the clinic? You handed out a similar one last year too. It was a handout that noted the different things one should look at regarding evaluating seedlings that have come into their own. You had a section regarding attributes for rosettes, attributes for the clump, the leaves, etc. You also included tips for when and how to row out the semp seeds, evaluating first year seedlings, etc.

This year's handouts was more extensive than last year and I enjoyed reading it. You handed it out to help us with the exercises you gave us and I thought it was most informative about what we could discuss and argued over and agree about regarding all the semps that we saw at your house. I remember discussing/disagreeing with somebody at the clinic over stolons and color..

I left the handout in Salem house and would have provided it but don't have it. So Kevin or anybody, I think the handout would be great for others to read that didn't go to the clinic.
