Francine - you will love the selection that nursery has! It is one place that I go to at least once every spring! Be prepared to bring home more than what you anticipate though LOL!!
Sally - yes, thank you for that mock Orange article! The gentleman from the nursery responded with the same… For fragrance purposes innocence is the one to go with!
Jill- that makes me smile that you still grow that basil. How many years ago was that? I bet DeBaggio's would love to get their hands on something that they actually don't carry!
Thanks all re lambs ear!!!
Any thoughts or suggestions on the purple salvia that I see at all of the stores? Is there any that are scented or better for attracting the butterflies?
“Little girl, why are you doing this? You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” After a few moments thought, she bent down, picked up another starfish & hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied, “Well, I made a difference to that one!” Be the change you wish to see in the world. http://www.stillsthatspeak.com...

Chantell, the "Hot & Spicy" basil and the Italian one Theresa gave me even longer ago are the two must-grow basils for me! The H&S is primo for Thai curry and other stir fry dishes. I did FINALLY find the Italian basil seeds that Gita gave me -- thanks, Gita! - but they are not even sprouted yet. I'll be putting a couple of those in a pot that I can bring inside in fall, to be certain of getting seeds!

Definitely would be helpful if the seed swap tool would sort "sold" list by item as well as by recipient... I have a word document for telling me how many of each thing I need, printed out so I can check off as I go. I'll try to do a couple extras of most things (heck, right now I have 9 extra lemon balm potted up!).

I've been a little extra limited lately, so my apologies for plants that are either quickly bagged or you-dig. (Likewise, please ignore the garden weeds and theinside piles! Living room and dining room should be functional, but there will be a lot of stuff moved to the edges.)

This birdbath looks better in winter. Foliage obscures the whopping catch at the end of the line. Maybe I should use tropical colors.

@critterologist "Lowe's had some nice quart-sized Garua on sale Friday, $2 each. I picked up 6 extras... anyone?"

If they are not spoken for, we would like 2 of them, please, Jill.

That's really cute, Lisa. I would have missed the fish. I can't think of what would highlight it, plantwise, though. Maybe it needs a gravel pad around it- then purples and chartreuse.

Well, ignore some of my above dire warnings. I had a productive hour in the garden and now have total of 4 dogwoods:two medium ish and two under a foot.
And I have 2 maples; (red japanese palmatums): one near three feet this year the other one is a foot so maybe a year or two younger.

I've ended up making a small card for each recipient with her/his requests. Hoping that combining several organizational tools will cover everything lol
Plant it and they will come.

LoL Sally...that's like trying for the Dewey Decimal System for plants or being able to locare and sort by 'author' subject or patron/swapper request! I have 4 3'x 21/2' tables set up where I am assembling plants requested by type plant, and then I can pull for each swapper's tray/box/container here or at swap and let Wayne schlep them to their alphabetically designated new home launching pad.

Of course some are in square pots or round ones and some are tall, or bushy or fragile and some will stay at your place when we meet up for you and Robin, What time do you think on Sat am?

I'm OD ed on cutting up old blind slats for labels so think I'll go with a strip of painters tape and abbreviations ABF = Agastache 'Blue Fortune' Ill try to edit my swap Haves lists to include my abbreviations for requester reference.

Glad that you came up with some organizational tool that works for you! And some reasonably presentable plants salvaged from the jaws of ...? 3' is a great size on that maple. It will really take off in its new forever home!

Pat, I'll put you down for the 2 Gaura... they are pretty... dark stems set off the leaves even without blooms yet.

I bought 10, will keep 3 and slide 2 to Martina, so that leaves 3 of them if anybody else is interested ($2, quart size)

Just a reminder if you come across any garden bargains to share, have extra supplies, etc... I'll have a separate "sale" table set up. Just PLEASE mark things clearly with your name and the price so people can pay you at the swap! I might just put a cash box or envelope on the table... if anybody needs change, you can check in it... I'll put a few extra singles in there in the morning.

SET-UP DETAILS

Plant drop-off stations will be in the front yard, also along the left side of the house (empty mulched area) so we can spread out. Terri is making signs... we'll arrange alphabetically by username.

Gift table and name-tag station will be on the side patio, just around the corner from the garage. Participation is optional but fun. I'll have a few extra items to cover the kids who are coming. When you get your name tag, put your name into the jar... we'll pick the first person, and when they take their gift, they'll pick the name of the next person (and tell them!), and so on.

The Sale Table will also be on the side patio, for easy browsing. Please do not get them confused, LOL.

Table(s) for Available Plants will be in the back yard, because I think we'll mostly be on the back deck and patio or inside... that makes it easier to find people and ask questions about plants.

There will be a Potting Area set up next to the deck (under the crepe myrtle) for things dug from my garden or split/shared on the spot etc.

THANK YOU all for the generous numbers of plants, food, etc. that you're bringing! Please... check before you leave and take any leftover plants/food home with you, or find them a home.
We're all learners, doers, teachers.

Jill - do you know the species of Gaura? Cultivar?

Edit - presumably G. lindheimeri, so cultivar?

It's pink-flowered. I don't remember the cultivar offhand, but it's on the label (not just the straight species).

Should anyone be interested and not have accessible at their Walmart - I can pick up a couple of the large Tea Olives. They were $20. They are borderline hardy here (7A)...probably closer to 7b/8a. I plant mine in the ground close to my brick front.

It's Gaura Belliza Dark Pink. Looks like it's a compact, well-branched variety that should be nice in containers or showing off near the front of the border. Looks like we have 2 for Pat & David, 1 or 2 each for Martina, Lisa, Chantell, so far... 2 more people can have one if they'd like.
