Carol, the Coelogyne is lovely and I love the color on the Pot. Speaking of orange, I have located a Lyonara Memoria Doug Lace 'Rosminah' down in Sarasota and am making arrangements to go down and pick it up.

Bree, nice roses and I love your new Catt. I got another lump of coal. Sticking tongue out

I just posted a couple of mini Catts here
http://cubits.org/orchids/thre...

and
my Lc Fire Dance 'Patricia' opened a first spike with many many more to come. This spike was close to a heating vent and so accelerated a bit.

The Potinara Final Touch 'Mendenhall' came from Silva Orchids in January and was in bud.

Here's a surprise. It's labelled Oerstedelia. Doesn't look like one but the buds sorta do. This is my first one. Any ideas?

Kathy, that could look like it. Congrats on the Den king.
Carol, I got the Lc Fire Dance 'Patricia' many years ago from Waldor Orchids. It isn't listed on their website right now, but he is a phone call away. I would think he still has some.
And- it is warm inside? Smiling

High 40s and 50s at night and 60+ days. My Lc. Firedance X Nodosa has been outside all winter and has 5 spikes starting to bud. It seems most of the Lalias can take the cold. I'm sure it depends on the % of Lalia in the parentage. My intermediate to warm growers are inside, but not happy. I think light and humidity are as much an issue as temps for them. When the sun is out and it's warm, it's because of the desert winds, so the humidity drops to the 20s &30s. In the summer we get more coastal influence, with the marine layer comming in every evening. In the winter we all suffer. As I continue to experiment, more of my orchids will stay outside year round, if I can figure out a way to protect them from rain. Unfortunately, I don't have room for a greenhouse, and wishing won't make it so...

I'm pretty sure now that this is Oerstedella tetraceros but I'll send an email to J & L and see what they think. http://www.orchidspecies.com/o...

Kathy, you are surely correct.

Carol, is your climate very different from Santa Barbara?

Yes, Ursula, it is. Santa Barbara is about 70 miles North of me, and right on the Ocean. Cal Orchid and SBOE are about a block from the beach. I'm about 10 mi. inland. They rarely get the temps that we get here. That being said, Ca. is all about micro climates, that's why we need our Sunset Western Gardens zone maps. The USDA maps mean nothing to us. Hilarious! This past two years, I don't think anyone in the country can go by the zone maps!
