Not sure which forum is best to ask this,
I have a glass vase that's about 19" tall and 5" wide that I'd love to turn into a living vase/terrarium,
If I fill it about halfway with substrate layers I have about 9.5" * 5" of space for a plant,
Can anyone recommend a plant that will do well in that growing space, I'd like it to grow to the top of the vase if possible and have just one species in there, interesting foliage or colors would be nice.
My sunniest window (south) is already filled with sun-lovers so a non-succulent that likes indirect medium to bright light would be preferred, maybe something that likes humidity as I'd be able to keep it pretty humid, especially if I cover the top.

Thanks in advance!

That sounds like fun! Small-stature plants with smaller foliage would probably be the best candidates to consider.

Fittonias come to mind, small foliage, lovers of humidity:

An Alternanthera with small foliage could be cute too. A. ficoidea cultivars could be candidates:
Joseph's Coat (Alternanthera littoralis)

Artillery fern (if that would be enough light, I don't really know that much about this one): Artillery Plant (Pilea microphylla)

Yes I'd go with Fittonia too, they seem to struggle in normal rooms so this kind of environment sounds ideal.

Do show us some photos when you are done!

Thanks for the suggestions guys,
I actually have this silver fittonia already that's about 4.5" tall,
It's been having new growth lately but the adult leaves look like they'd like more humidity, they are kind of folded at the tips (not dry or brown though, its been like that for a month since I got it...so weird...I kept moving and replanting it to figure out it's needs so maybe its stressed ha ha) - if I don't come up with a better idea I'll make the vase its home.
But then I expect it to have its new leaves to develop unfolded and to grow to almost 9", eventually - do you think that'll happen or is that too much to expect of this plant?

Interesting question. From what little someone like me could observe from not being able to keep one of those things alive for more than a year or so, and in pics beyond that, the leaves are so often seen with some curling / crinkling. IDK if that's normal for a healthy specimen, or because they are usually unhappy with the lower humidity inside most homes where they are being kept.

Fittonias growing in baskets on my front porch. They don't get much healthier than this and these have some leaf curl.
