Thank you everyone for your comments. Based on Mike's comment, I contacted H&H Nursery and sent them the photos - they just told me that it's called a pedilanthus bracteatus (or "Slipper Plant"). Glad to have tracked it down as I'm hoping to use them in our new landscaping.
