Apologies folks, it is indeed Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, or to be specific just outside in Northumberland (Morpeth)... Google it - it's 'quaint'.

Single round berries, which leads me now to believe it's a blackcurrant plant - leaves also match the search I've just done with the help you gave.
