Really strange bloom season this year. A few hems are pumping out blooms like we are a tour garden. Some are sitting with buds on scapes showing no sign of progress day after day. Bud count is way down on most. Some are just weird. DANCING WITH GIRAFFES opened eight blooms today, each bloom tied together at the petal tips. ED MURRAY had a FFO today with one petal. One hem had two buds on its no branching single scape.
Then we have several looking gorgeous, as though Betja or ShakespearsGarden or Hazelcrestmikeb or GaNinFl or Legalily plus a dozen more had been here watering, weeding, feeding, hauling them into kitchen out of the heat and doing all those magical things they do.
This year I am posting photos primarily from that last group with a few outliers so you aren't getting too many from me.
Here goes;
PRAIRIE BLUE EYES
poor bloom, even worse photo but a true classic that can't be left out
EMERALD TOUCANET
Really? Doesn't look like it to me but straight from the hybridizer
SUNNY INTERVALS FFO
this is my kind of photo
LINDA SIERRA FFO
really good performer ... reminds me of some dancers I have worked with in musicals who are maybe 30 or 32 and not quite as lithe as some of the younger dancers but when the curtain goes up they are the ones you watch. Same bed, same category as VATICAN CITY
SIROCCO (1979)
and here is your 45 year old dancer who you put in the back row but still knows all the steps and lyrics and who you just wouldn't trade for anyone. SIROCCO came with the house, planted next to an eight inch pine post in the shade and you cannot beat it down. This is not a great bloom but I love the buds!
California poppy
photo does not capture the violence of the color - I had to put my camera in the refrigerator after I took the shot
