I did get a soil test and it showed the soil was very alkaline and high in phosphorus, with almost no nitrogen or potash I used to have a lawn where the garden is, though 10 years ago we cut out that section of lawn to lay rock. Thanks for the granular fertilizer idea, I may need to use some fertilizer to raise that nitrogen and potash content too!
