So many possibilities vary them... Heat ( cooler, hotter, they change color) Light( more sun, less sun, they change color). Soil acidity ( acid, alkaline) they change color. It's pretty amazing we can recognize them at all although some are more stable than others. My daylilies tend to be bluer, because my soil is deeply acidic. The house was built on an oak woods property and there are still many oaks over 100 years old that are always shedding more acid. It's great for my Hydrangeas, Azaleas, Rhododendrons and of course, purple daylilies.
