Seedfork said:Well, I envision Johnny Appleseed, with a bag over his shoulder... only the bag full of seed potatoes. A long extension on the drill bit and a contractor grade battery powered drill, the battery technology is so much better these days. They are even making some pretty decent "Weedwackers" that are battery powered. Drill a hole, drop in the seed potato, cover it with your foot, and move on. No bending or stooping, or laying the drill down. Of course I don't plant potatoes, and if I did I would probably use the traditional method, but I could see it working for some people. Plus, if you had many tulips, or other bulbs to plant it might be used for that too I suppose. Now for hilling up the potatoes at they grow...a battery powered hoe?

You need to find an old Britcom called Good Neighbors (The Good Life in UK), and watch the episode where Tom throws his back out and still has to plant his spuds. He created an ingenious device that enable him to SLOWLY plant spuds without bending at all. Hilarious!

I'm going to retire and live off of my savings. Not sure what I'll do that second week.
