My Van Engelen order arrived this week. I only have a few more bulbs to plant, maybe 635+😰😰😰😰😰

What the heck was I thinking? It's been raining on and off today, so except for some cleaning up of the peonies, and sprinkling of Bulb Fertilizer, no planting got done today.

I was all excited when I ordered the 50 additional from Brent & Becky's and then when they arrived I thought what was I thinking? But once I got out there & started planting them, it didn't take me but about 30 or 40 minutes.

I think this one is confused. I have another with buds that have not yet opened. These were planted last spring & bloomed then.

It has had enough chill time and is ready to bloom! Lovely to see in December! I'm finding a lot of pips at the soil's surface- I think that means they're ready and waiting for spring...and so am I! Santa showed up a little early for you Ann

It suits me, I am happy to see them now. I guess that hard, hard frost we had on Nov. 4th gave them a kick start. We have had frosts now every morning for 2 solid weeks that I know of. Before that I wasn't keeping track. I haven't seen any others emerging yet although I haven't looked really closely.

It will be a while before spring yet. I sure hope the north doesn't have a bad winter.

Neal, I noticed that my Ice King has broken the soil and is showing tips of the leaves. Luckily, I covered them with pine straw this weekend, we had temps of 27 degrees this morning, with everything coated in frost.

I got waylaid by the flu last week which stymied my bulb planting endeavors😔. I felt a little better this weekend, and got 64 bulbs planted including 30 Winter Aconite, 20 Hyacinth Pink Pearl, and 9 N. Minnow around 5 White Pixels lilies.

The box on Van Engelen bulbs is still hanging out in my back deck, waiting to be planted. I'll get to those over the next few weekends. When I opened box to take out White Pixels yesterday, I found that they'd sent an extra order of OT Purple Prince, which I'm happy about.

No, I don't know the name of it. This was one of those packages at the grocery store that no one had bought & they were now on sale 1/2 price. I just *had* to rescue those bulbs you know; otherwise they would sit in that store & end up rotting. So I brought them home & planted them. Gosh, that was in spring too & the suckers bloomed anyway! Now they're doing it again???? Bionic bulbs??

OT- Orientpet- a cross between an oriental and a trumpet lily, that creates a beautiful hybrid. I'm not only crazy about bulbs, I'm also a lily nut

I added Purple Prince this year...with Pearl Jennifer at its feet. There's an older peachy pink daylily in front of both as you'd view them...hoping that color/height vignette works out okay.🐛
